In a press release on their website dated today, Topps Markets, LLC will acquire 21 stores from GU Markets, LLC, including the Hancock, NY supermarket. The sale is projected to close in the Fall of 2012. An excerpt from the Topps press release reads as follows: " Tops Markets, LLC, is headquartered in Williamsville, NY and operates 132 full-service supermarkets – 127 company-owned and five franchise locations. With more than 14,000 associates, Tops is a leading full-service grocery retailer in upstate New York and northern Pennsylvania. Upon completion of the C&S Wholesale acquisition, Tops Markets will be operating 153 full-service supermarkets – 148 company-owned and five franchise locations, with more than 14,500 associates."
